Two Art Lectures.

The Greenfield Arts and Crafts Society has arranged for a lecture by Henry T. Bailey, the clever art authority who was formerly an agent of the State Board of Education and who now is the editor of a school art magazine. Mr. Bailey will take for his subject "Intelligent craftsmanship." He will discuss the principles that go to make up good designing. This lecture will interest not merely the people who are working at those crafts, but the much larger class who would like to know what constitutes good designing so that they may form intelligent opinions as to the merits of articles of home adornment. This lecture is to be delivered Monday, April 3, probably at High school hall.

Will Hutchins, the Deerfield artist, is also to talk about "Life and art," Wednesday, March 27. The Arts and Crafts Society has shown no little public spirit in its effort to extend the knowledge of handicraft, and it deserves the most liberal patronage.

Both these lectures are put at 4.15 p.m. to accommodate the teachers. Mr. Hutchins's subject is one upon which he is later to speak in Boston before the Metaphysical Club. Tickets can be had of members and at Forbes' store.

He was an advocate for art education and served as editor for this magazine from 1903-1917. Will Hutchins worked tirelessly as promoting the arts and crafts as part of the Deerfield Painting Society and Deerfield Industries. He was elected president of the Greenfield Society of Arts and Crafts in January of 1907.
