Frances Wells married Isaac Miles (1808-1869) in 1840. Isaac was in partnership with Joel Lyons (1813-1893). Miles & Lyons did carpentry, cabinets, coffins, furniture and repairs in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Frances made the shrouds, robes, stocks, and coffin linings for the firm and kept her own daybook of accounts. The firm paid her in cash.
