This is the World War II (WWII) Army discharge card of Frank R. Dahowski, Jr., born in 1910, and one of eight children of Frank and Sophie Dahowski, emigrants from Warsaw, Poland in 1898, and residents of Montague, Massachusetts. During WWII he was a sergeant; due to his life-threatening war-time injury, he was discharged from the service on October 20, 1945, as a disabled veteran, unable to work when he returned home. Frank and his wife Olga, moved to Deerfield after the war, where they built a house on a lot on the Dahowski farm. They were members and supporters of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in South Deerfield. Frank was a volunteer fireman in Old Deerfield and enjoyed his hobby of restoring and selling antique cars. Olga (Ollie to her friends) worked at Greenfield Tap and Die during the war and later, at LaPierre's Electrical Store in Greenfield. They are buried in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.
