With torch in hand, the Spirit of Religion leads the Pilgrims out of England to find religious freedom. This scene shows the common belief that the biggest reason early settlers came to this continent was for religious reasons. The fact that most early settlers came to become richer is cast aside in Deerfield's pageants.
