Family Bibles served more than one use. In addition to giving religious ideas and comfort, family records were often entered onto pages that were just for such information. David Hoyt (1722-1814) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, wrote the births and deaths of his wife and their 12 children on a page in this book. This Bible was passed down to his great-great grandson, Horatio, born in 1868.
